In the beginning, God created man in His own image, reflecting the nature and character of God.   Adam and Eve were the first man and woman God created, and God wanted them to love, honor, serve and fellowship with Him.   In the beginning there was perfect harmony between God and man because Adam and Eve honored God by obeying His commands and by doing all that God told them to do.  One of the things God told Adam and Eve was not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil {Genesis 2:15-17}.

In Isaiah 14:12-14 we learn that sin originated with Satan (the devil) when he rose up in pride and defiance against God.  And then we learn that Satan influenced Adam and Eve to disobey God and eat from the very tree that God told them not to eat from. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil {Genesis 3:1-7}, sin entered the world {Romans 5:12}, Adam and Eve’s sin was passed down to the entire human race, and all men born after that  time were born into sin (with a sinful nature).

What is God’s remedy for Sin ?

God’s holiness and righteousness demands a penalty for sin.  Romans 6:23 says:  “the wages (penalty/price) of sin is death”,  but John 3:16 says: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”.  God loved us so much, that He sent His Son Jesus to pay the penalty for our sins by dying on the cross in our place (as our substitute) so that we might be saved, have everlasting life, and not die spiritually {John 3:16-17}.   God hates sin but He loves sinners.  God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” {Romans 5:8}.

The Bible says that without the shedding of blood there can be no remission or forgiveness of sin {Hebrews 9:22}, and God required the blood of a lamb without spot or blemish (no sin) to be shed to atone for the sins of the world.  So “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” {2 Corinthians 5:21}.   When Jesus died on the cross, He provided a way for us to receive forgiveness for our sins, and a way for us to be restored and reconciled back to God;  “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” {1 Timothy 2:5}.

Jesus became the Lamb of God who took away the sins of the world {John 1:29}.  Through His death and the shedding of His blood, Jesus completely erased, wiped away and atoned for our sins once and for all eternity {HEBREWS 9:12-14, HEBREWS 9:24-28, HEBREWS 10:10-18}.  He carried the load of our sins in His own body that we might live for righteousness.{1 PET 2:24}   His blood paid the penalty (the price) for our sins IN FULL;  His blood restored us and placed us back in right standing with God;  and His blood cleanses from all unrighteousness – past, present and future {1 JOHN 1:7-9,  1 PET 1:18-19,  COL 1:20, 1 COR 5:18}.

JESUS is the ONLY remedy for sin.  He is our Savior.

How do you become Born Again and Restore your Relationship with God ?

Jesus said:  “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  {John 14:6}

Acts 4:12 says:  “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

Acts 13:38-39 says:  “Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of  Moses.

Romans 10:9-10 says:  “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”

What is sin ?  Simply stated:  sin is rebellion against God.  It is breaking God’s law by doing what God has commanded us not to do -or- by not doing what God has commanded us to do.   Sin is not limited to just our actions, it can also include what we think and/or say as well.  Jesus said… “What comes out of a person is what defiles them.  For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder,  adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.  All these evils come from inside and defile a person.” {Mark 7:20-23}.

As a result of Adam and Eve’s sin, all mankind incurred the penalties of sin:  physical and spiritual death (eternal punishment and separation from God) .  The Bible says that “the wages of sin is death” {Romans 6:23}, and that our sins have separated us from God {Isaiah 9:2}. Romans 3:23 tells us:  “For all have sinned, and fallen short of the Glory of God”;   therefore “everyone” is in need of a Savior because “everyone” has sinned.

Here are some important points that you must understand:

Ø  Of course you must believe in God, but believing in God alone will not save you:

·         “You believe that there is one God. Good!  Even the demons believe that – and shudder” {James 2:19}.

·         “For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him” {Romans 1:21}.

Ø  Being a “good person” and doing “good works” will not save you:

·         “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags {Isaiah 64:6}.

·         “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” {Ephesians 2:8-9}

·        Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,  whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”  {Titus 3:5-7}

Ø  Going to Church and participating in Church activities will not save you:

·         “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.  Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’   And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me…”  {Matthew 7:21-25}

So you see…there is only ONE WAY to be saved, ONE WAY to have your sins forgiven, ONE WAY to restore your relationship with God, and ONE WAY to go to Heaven and have eternal life – and that is through JESUS CHRIST.

God’s Plan of Salvation

If you want to enter into a right relationship with God, go to Heaven and have eternal life you must decide to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Jesus said in John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”   In order to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, you must repent of your sins and put your trust in Jesus Christ alone as the only way to receive  salvation and eternal life.e

It’s as simple as this:

1.   Acknowledge that you are a sinner:

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" {Romans 3:23}

"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" {Romans 5:12}

"If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." {1 John 1:10}

  1. Repent (Turn away from sin and turn to God):

The Bible teaches us that all people “must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus” {Acts 20:21}. When we repent of our sins, God forgives us and wipes our slate clean.  “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out” {Acts 3:19}.  To “repent” means more than just saying your are sorry and asking God for forgiveness; it also means turning away from a lifestyle of sin, and turning your heart and life towards God.

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgivetheir sin and heal their land.”  {2 Chronicles 7:14}

“Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts;  Let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God,  for He will abundantly pardon.”  {Isaiah 55:7}

Jesus said: “…Unless you repent you will all likewise perish”  {Luke 13:5}

“In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.  For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”  {Acts 17:30-31}

  1. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you, was buried, and rose from the dead:

When you put your trust in Jesus Christ, it means that you believe that He is the Son of God, who died for you on the cross, and rose from the dead so that you could live.  It is a transfer of trust from your own good works and “religion” to Jesus Christ as the only way of salvation.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  {John 3:16}

 “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved” {Romans 10:9-10}.

“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”  {Romans 10:10}

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God,  even to them that believe on his name:" {John 1:12}

  1. Invite Jesus into your life to become your personal Lord and Savior:

“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”  {Romans 10:10}

For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” {Romans 10:13}

Here is a simple Prayer that you can Pray:

Dear God, I humbly come to you and acknowledge that I am a sinner and in need of your forgiveness. I believe that your son Jesus Christ shed his precious blood at Calvary and died on the cross for my sins so that I could receive salvation and eternal life.  I believe that Jesus died, was buried, that He rose from the dead on the third day, and that He ascended into Heaven where He now sits at your right hand.  I turn away from my sinful ways and the vain pleasures of this world, and I turn my heart towards You Dear God.  I ask You to have mercy on me, to cleanse me, and to forgive me for all of my sins. By faith, I accept Your free gift of Salvation. I acknowledge that I am not worthy of it, and that there is nothing I can do to earn it.  I acknowledge that it is only by Your Grace that I have been saved, and I Thank You for it.  I confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life and the Savior of my soul, and I believe that according to Your Word, I am born again.  Please fill me with your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, live for You, and do Your will for the rest of my life.  In the precious Name of Jesus I Pray……Amen.

Once you have received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, you should also make a commitment to:

  1. Find a local Church where Jesus Christ is preached and the Bible is the final authority on all matters of life and godliness; and where you can learn, worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians:

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”  {Hebrews 10:25}

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness…” {2 Timothy 3:16}

  1. Be Baptized as instructed by Jesus as a public testimony of your salvation:

“And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house.  And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized”.
  {Acts 16:30-33}

“And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” {Acts 22:16}

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit...” {Matthew 28:19}

  1. Read your Bible every day to get to know Christ better:

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”  {2 Timothy 2:15}

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” {Psalms 119:105}

“I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”   {Psalm 119:11}

  1. Talk to God in Prayer every day:

“And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”  {Matthew 21:22}

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” {Philippians 4:6}

  1. Tell others about Christ:

“Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.”  {Matthew 10:32}

“And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”  {Mark 16:15}

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”  {Romans 1:16}

Ask a Question

“WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED ?”

This is the single most important question of our lives.  Why ?  Because our souls will exist for eternity (forever) but one day we will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ where Jesus will judge the life every person who has ever lived {Romans 14:12, 2 Corinthians 5:10}.  He will divide the “saved” from the “unsaved”; and the saved will receive “eternal life”, while the unsaved will receive “eternal punishment”.  {Matt 25:31-46}.

You Must Be Born Again

The Bible teaches us that in order to receive eternal life and go to Heaven we must be “Born Again” which means “born from above”.  In John 3:3-7 Jesus told Nicodemus:  “I tell you the truth,  no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”   Being “born again” is another way of saying that you are “saved”, which is another way of saying that you have received the salvation of the Lord.

Why do you need to be Born Again ? and Why do you need a Savior ?
